Part 10
the Pumphouse Fight

Generally running wild on the California Coast, specifically moving on the edge in La Jolla,
our Hero has no restraints. Lookin for the adrenalin rush, whether it be surf, sun, sex,
suds or sudden blows of the fisticuff kind. Kim is history. Nada. An event in the past,
a fading memory of a woman who tried to tie him down. An almost commitment, a striking
Italian who wanted him to change the sandals into shoes. A chance for Love.

Cruising in the Machine down Neptune Place, headed south on his way to Bully's
and a steak and drinks with his karate instructor, Fred Kenyon, Bruce turns the corner

So he parks his car on Gravilla, next to the vacant lot near our house, and he quickly
exits his vehicle, or what passes as a vehicle, and moves toward the Pumphouse
for the impending encounter.

The Pumphouse at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, California. A place of legends, before
Tom Wolfe immortalized the place in his fictional story of the same name. Fictional,
for Wolfe hung-out with the wrong characters and got the wrong stories and the wrong facts.
Sure, the incestuous Dirty Leonard killt his girl and his self, and the needles were
passing around like candies at Halloween, but he touched the surface, venerred the truth.
But later with that with an expert from the Scene.

Graffiti splattered with the writings of the angry locals, Bruce quickly moves down the
steps on the northside of the Pumphouse and down to the beach where he calls out the Blue Boy.

drag him out so he don't drown

We are brothers, so just because he can't surf here,
doesn't mean he can drown here. Beach is free, available for anyone to use as long as
they clean up after themselves. The water is limited to those qualified to use it with ability
and respect to their brethern and sistern. So Bruce drags the Kid out and deposits him on the Shore,

the sun sets beyond the Pumphouse

Just another day at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, California, terminating with a beautiful sunset
with Bruce sitting on the Pumphouse, watching the sun dip into the sea, relaxed, content,
his appetite for Bully's having been whetted by a brief encounter with a Buoy from the Past.
